Empowering Lives
Our ability to speak, listen, read, write; to remember, focus, solve problems, execute goals, and think is so automatic, that we can take them for granted, until it is disrupted. Ouridentity becomes intertwined with these skills across the lifespan. A sudden or gradual loss of communication or thinking skills can interfere not only with work, education, social interactions, and everyday activities, but strike at the heart of a person's sense of self. Furthermore, individuals with neurodiverse conditions such as ADHD may experience lifelong challenges with cognitive skills such as executive functioning that can make aspects of life situations in work, school, and home an uphill battle.
It is not widely known that specialized therapeutic and coaching services exist to address such issues, even if the underlying cause is chronic or expected to worsen over time.
I LOVE neuroscience and the mystery of the human brain. It is such an exciting time to be involved in the field of neurorehabilitation in which we now know that there is hope for changing our brain function through experiences and specific types of input. I have devoted my career to neurorehabilitation and am the only board certified clinician in neurogenic communication disorders in a 5-state region.
I see my clients as human beings, many of whom are experiencing one of the most difficult situations of their entire lives. Problems with one's communication or cognitive abilities can feel extremely vulnerable and more personal than a physical injury - care for these types of conditions should never be impersonal or rushed. Moving into the private practice setting has allowed me to fully exercise my deeply held values of putting the person's needs above all other competing priorities in current healthcare environments and providing holistic care.
Your goals and your quality of life are genuinely important to me. I draw from my extensive knowledge and experience in neurorehabilitation to help you to achieve the best possible outcomes. This might involve improving your communication and cognitive skills to get back to work or school; for social interactions, for all of the daily activities that seem so simple but actually involve a highly complex feat of the brain.
